Description
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesive Film AF 3109-2K .085 is a thermosetting modified epoxy adhesive film designed for demanding aerospace structural bonding applications. The high-tack film uses a knit scrim carrier and an adhesive weight of 0.085 lb/ft², and is designed for bonding metal, composite and honeycomb structures where high fracture toughness, peel strength and long-term durability are required. AF 3109-2K .085 can be cured at temperatures from approximately 225°F (107°C) to 350°F (177°C), with 3M specifying 250°F (120°C) or 350°F (175°C) as designed cure options. The cured adhesive provides structural bond performance over a temperature range of approximately -67°F to 300°F (-55°C to 150°C). The adhesive film is suited to metal-to-metal, metal-to-composite and honeycomb sandwich construction, including aircraft structural assemblies. Its film format provides controlled adhesive placement without the mixing required by two-component paste adhesives, while its high tack supports shop handling during assembly.
