Description
3M™ Polyurethane Protective Boot SJ8665 FP611-3 is a transparent, thermoformed polyurethane protective boot designed for aerospace surface protection. The boot is custom formed for a precise fit and uses an acrylic adhesive to secure it to the aircraft surface. It provides a durable barrier against erosion, abrasion, scratching, punctures, moisture, UV exposure and minor impact. The SJ8665 polyurethane material is UV stable and designed to maintain its clarity without yellowing over time. Its transparent construction allows it to be used over painted surfaces while maintaining the underlying appearance. 3M also states that the material can be used on radomes with virtually no reduction in transmissivity. For aircraft applications, protective boots in the SJ8665 family are used on vulnerable areas such as radomes, wing tips, winglet surfaces, stabilizer leading edges, fairings, spinners and other high-erosion surfaces. 3M's documentation specifically identifies the FP611–FP614 SJ8665 boots for Boeing 737 MAX winglet applications.
