3M™ Polyurethane Protective Boot SJ8665 FP613-3 is a pre-formed, transparent polyurethane protective boot designed for aerospace surface protection. The SJ8665 material is thermoformed for a precise fit and provides a protective barrier against erosion, abrasion, moisture, staining, UV exposure, paint chipping and surface damage. 3M states that the material can be used on both metal and composite surfaces and maintains its clarity without yellowing over time. The FP613 configuration is specifically identified by 3M for the upper right winglet of the Boeing 737 MAX. 3M's aerospace documentation lists FP611, FP612, FP613 and FP614 as SJ8665 boots for the upper/lower left and right winglet positions, with a gloss transparent finish. The boot is adhesive-backed and custom formed for the corresponding aircraft component. Its polyurethane construction is designed to protect vulnerable aerodynamic surfaces from foreign-object-debris erosion such as rain and sand, while maintaining the appearance of the underlying surface.
