Description
PPG P/S 870 B-1/2 is a two-part, manganese-dioxide-cured polysulfide corrosion-inhibitive aerospace sealant designed to protect aluminium alloys and joints between dissimilar metals from corrosion. Its low-sag, thixotropic paste can be applied using an extrusion gun or spatula and cures at room temperature to form a resilient, flexible seal with excellent adhesion to common aircraft substrates. The cured sealant maintains its elastomeric properties after limited exposure to jet fuel and aviation gasoline, making it suitable for demanding aircraft environments. The B-1/2 grade provides a 30-minute application life and has a service temperature range of -54°C to +121°C, with intermittent exposure up to 135°C.
